6 ways you can engage with your audience better

There’s no question that engaging with your audience is essential for a successful blog, but it can be tricky to know how to do it. After all, everyone’s different and what works for one person might not work for another. That said, there are some basic things you can do to help get your readers more engaged with your content. Here are six of them.

Survey them

The first way to get to know your audience is to survey them directly. This can be done in a number of ways, but the most common is to send out an email questionnaire or use a tool like Qualaroo to ask questions on your website. You can ask anything from general demographic information, like age and gender, to their opinion on your brand or what products they’re interested in.

Social Listening

Be present at places where your audience is already interacting. Mostly it is on social media. It could be a viral post, a comment section, a twitter thread or the like button of LinkedIn. Let your presence be known to your target audience. By social listening, you will be able to find ongoing conversations about your brand or the topics that affect your brand. In order to boost your engagement, take that one step and join the conversation.

It is important to develop a strong  voice here. Make sure that the tone remains consistent. If you use humor, use it in a strategic way. Studies show that around 80% of people follow others on social media based on the type of content and interaction they are known for.

More visuals

Make sure that your content is visually pleasing. It should not be a jumbled up mixture of several things that just make it look gibberish. Along with this, make sure what you share has interactive visuals and not just words. For example, infographics are shared 3 times more than other type of content on social media. Additionally, visual content is likely to be shared 40 times more on social media as compared to all the other type of content. Most of the

Use Humor, Compassion and Emphaty

The best way to connect with someone is by sharing their emotions. You can never underestimate the power of emotions because as humans, we love to relate with people who feel the same emotions as us. So, be empathetic to a cause, make some inside jokes that your audience will understand. You can even ask your audience for tips to deal with certain emotions and let them know that you are there for them. Tell them that your ideas and your actions are generous towards them and that your company is built with real people.

Create unique and valuable Insights

There is an abyss of information that keeps on repeating on social media. And when you find yourself being a part of it, you sometimes can get lost too. To avoid that from happening, make sure you provide some exclusivity in your content. You need to stand be different from your competitors. Instead of repurposing the same old topics that you have been using recently, come up with more interesting ones that are also unique and add value for your audience. You’ll see that your audience comes back for more again and again.

Hold contests/ giveaways

This is probably the best way to boost yur engagement, followers and other tap button features of your account. Host giveaways or contests. It could even be a simple quiz or a fun experimental question answer round. Making it saucy and keeping a reward in the end will drive your audience towards it. Use engagement boosters as click bait. For example: “Post a picture and tag us in your story to win a gift hamper” or “Comment below your favourite post by us and get a chance to win exciting gifts”. This gives your audience the fun of playing and intearcting.
